What and who do I teach?

In 1989 the National Curriculum was introduced to unify the types of programmes practised in schools.
The following subjects must be taught:
Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, and Science.
Foundation Subjects: Design and Technology, ICT, History, Geography, Art & Design, Music, PE, and a modern foreign language for secondary students.
Religious Education and Citizenship must be catered for at all levels.
Recently daily Literacy and Numeracy Hour programmes have been introduced for primary pupils.
The Curriculum is divided into six stages

Students are assessed via SATs (Standard Assessment Tasks) at the end of Key Stages one, two and three.
At the age of 16 students sit their GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education). |
